Vancouver plant-based eatery replaced by new restaurant just months after reopening

The restaurant space at 1935 W 4th Ave. in Vancouver has seen some significant change just within the last month.
To get you up to speed, Vancouver vegan restaurant Chi announced that it would be closing its doors on Aug. 14.
Then, in September, new owners took over the space and decided to reopen Chi.
“We are delighted to announce that Chi has reopened, embracing the heart and vision that have always defined its unique spirit,” owner Michael Frey told Dished previously. “Our mission is to create a welcoming and dependable destination where guests return for consistently exceptional service and a genuine sense of community.”
Here, the new owners made some changes to the menu, but select fan-favourite items were promised to remain alongside its new offerings.
Fast forward to the current day, and Chi is once again no more, and a new restaurant called GlassHouse has taken over.
Described as “maximalist charm meets farm-to-table ingredients,” GlassHouse is offering a selection of both meat and vegan-friendly dishes.
On the meat side of things, you can expect dishes like Steamed Clams (chimichurri, seafood broth, fermented garlic, and dill), a Bison Mushroom Burger (spiced miso aioli, romaine, garlic mushrooms, balsamic roasted onions, and mozzarella), and Steak + Saffron Couscous (striploin, shaved rainbow carrots, coffee soil, gremolata, and red wine rosemary jus).

When it comes to vegan options, you’ll find Chorizo Cheese Dip (house-made seitan chorizo, spicy cashew cheese, chili oil, and pita chips), Coconut Lemongrass Soup (udon noodles, sautéed vegetables, fresh herbs), and a Brisket Sandwich (sliced seitan be’f, dijon, pickled mustard seeds, and creamy slaw).
Currently, GlassHouse is open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.
