Gaudreau’s wife Meredith gives birth to baby boy and he looks just like Johnny
Johnny Gaudreau’s family is still mourning his loss, but they celebrated a beautiful moment as his wife Meredith gave birth to the couple’s third child earlier this month.
This announcement comes just a bit under a year since Johnny and his brother Matthew were tragically killed by a drunk driver last summer. At the time of his death, it was not known that the Gaudreau’s were expecting a third child, with Meredith revealing that during the eulogy of her husband.
In a post to Instagram this morning, Meredith introduced the world to Carter Michael Gaudreau, a healthy baby boy born on April 1 who shares the same middle name as his late father.
“Carter Michael Gaudreau, same middle name as his daddy… He looks exactly like his daddy too,” Meredith wrote. “I love you so much my baby! We are going to have so much fun. I can’t wait to give you the best life, my special boy forever.”

Meredith revealed that Carter was born at eight pounds, three ounces, and was 20.5 inches at birth. According to her, this is the same size Johnny was when he was born in 1993.
She also shared a few photos of the Gaudreau family embracing its newest addition. Carter will now join his two new siblings, sister Noa, born in 2022 and brother Johnny Jr., born just last year.
This wasn’t the first time the family has welcomed a new addition following last summer’s tragedy. Matthew’s wife, Madeline, also gave birth to that couple’s first child, a baby boy named Tripp Matthew Gaudreau, in December. Tripp’s middle name is also a tribute to his father.
While the loss of Johnny and Matthew will always be felt by the Gaudreau family, it is nice to see that their respective families are still growing and moving forward despite all the hardships.
