A 65-foot-tall ferris wheel, called Sky Wheel on the Pier, is coming to North Vancouver this winter for the Shipyards Christmas Festival.

The Sky Wheel will be part of the free annual Christmas Festival, which will take place on Saturday, December 2. It will be totally FREE to ride on, but donations are welcome.

During the festival, the Shipyards will be transformed into a winter wonderland, full of family friendly activities, plus the Sky Wheel and a new Winter Artisan Market.

Christmas activities available will include ornament/lantern making, gingerbread decorating, a storytime tent, face painting, balloon creations and live music.

On stage entertainment will include performances by The Beauty Shop Dolls, Windsor Senior Chamber Choir, and Seymour Dance School.

Meanwhile, the Mayor of North Vancouver will be officially lighting the Christmas tree, and Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available for photos.

There’ll even be a “sail by” from the Burrard Yacht club.

And if you’re one of the lucky first 500 people to arrive at the festival, you’ll get free hot chocolate, coffee, tea, kettle corn, and cotton candy.

The ferris wheel, sponsored by the Lower Lonsdale Business Improvement Area, will run from 4 pm to 10 pm on Saturday, December 2.
