Food truck season is officially here, and while Vancouver already has an awesome selection of delicious grub on wheels, we certainly won’t complain about this new addition to the scene.

Shameless Buns is a new Filipino food truck, well, food bus or jeepney – aka the vibrant, kitschy, popular mode of public transportation used all over the Philippines.

The foundation of Shameless Buns’ name, branding, and menu is the pandesal, a common bread roll found in the Philippines.

Shameless gets its sweet buns from local favourite Aling Mary’s Filipino Store, and the soft, fresh bundles of joy are incorporated into over half the menu.

The bus offers patrons several pandesal sandwiches including Shameless’ take on a Filipino BBQ sandwich, the ‘Not Your Lola’s Chicken Adobo’ (braised for four hours, no less), the ‘Sir Spam-A-Lot,’ and ‘The Little Sausage’ with longaniza (Filipino sweet and spicy pork sausage) topped with a runny egg, Sriracha mayo, atchara, garlic chips, and housemade banana ketchup.

The banana ketchup here is made using a whopping 23 ingredients, and it comes alongside a garlic calamansi aioli with the show-stopping SPAM Fries.

The menu here also offers two vegetarian options, including the ‘Jacked Up Coconut’ fries or sandwich, made from amazing jackfruit coconut adobo which is seriously worth trying even if you’re not sticking to a plant-based diet.

And if the Filipino root beer on the menu isn’t sweet enough for you, we recommend the ‘Happy Ending,’ a pandesal French Toast.

This treat is topped with ube jam, condensed milk, coconut jam, and more.

This bus will serve as a breath of fresh air for those looking to spice up their lunch break or grab-and-go dining routine.

The creative food from Shameless will surely convert many to dine on funky Filipino food more regularly if they spot the bus around at an event or their office.

Shameless buns will be rolling into festivals and markets around Metro Vancouver over the summer, you can also track the truck down by checking its location on the Street Food App.
