Vancouver’s first-ever brick and mortar Nashville hot chicken joint, The Downlow Chicken Shack, is opening next week.

The Commercial Drive eatery is replacing the recently-shuttered Desert Restaraunt and will officially open its doors for business June 13.

Patrons can expect that oh-so-Instagrammable crispy, marinated hot fried chicken that the new eatery has been teasing us with photos of for a few months now.

Located at 905 Commercial Drive, the 1,000 sq. ft. space has 24 seats with eight at the bar, and an outdoor patio will be open in the coming weeks too.

Other than their signature chicken (ranging in heat level from mild, medium, hot, extra hot, to “A Side of Milk”), there will also be hot chicken breast sandwiches and wings along with classic southern sides like coleslaw, cornbread, pickles, macaroni salad, fries, and peach sweet tea.

Downlow Chicken was designed by owners Doug Stephen and Lindsey Mann, who also own another eatery in the neighbourhood, Merchant’s Workshop (1590 Commercial Drive).

In terms of pricing, chicken lovers can expect to pay $9 for a quarter bird and $32 for a whole bird, but there will be multiple large-order options.

The Downlow Chicken Shack will be open Tuesday through Sunday from 11:30 am to 9:30 pm (or until there’s no chicken left).

Address: 905 Commercial Drive, Vancouver
