A new brewery is coming to 'Yeast Van' and it's opening this year
A new brewery is opening in East Vancouver (a.k.a. “Yeast Van”) ā and it’s bringing an elevated West Coast aesthetic to the space.
The brewery, dubbed Discovery Brewing, is the project of longtime best friends and co-founders Aleksander Zuber and Winston Lin. Here’s everything you need to know about the new spot before it opens.

The food
Discovery Brewing has shared that it’s stepping away from your standard taproom snacks with a fresh menu designed by the founders and their team.
“Our launch menu brings together 10 to 15 signature dishes designed around small, shareable tapas plates,” explain the co-founders in a release. “It lets guests try a little bit of everything or easily build out a full meal.”
The opening menu will feature a mix of comfort food classics, shareable snacks, and vegan options as well. Expect bites like a classic house burger, the brewery’s signature Discovery Fried Chicken (DFC), local cheese and meat charcuterie boards, sardine puttanesca, fried olives, blistered shishito peppers, crispy roasted Brussels sprouts with a sweet miso-maple glaze, and slow-cooked short rib sliders on potato rolls with caramelized onion jam.
The kitchen will also use spent grain leftover from the brewing process to bake custom flatbreads and add texture to different dishes.
The beer
Discovery Brewing plans to feature 12 house beers on tap, ranging from light, crisp session beers to dark, rich, and experimental brews. The crown jewels of the opening tap list are a classic Munich-style Helles lager named 815, and a West Coast Pilsner called Lovelace.
“Our first beer is a Helles lager called 815, named after the year 815 ā the earliest recorded
year of brewing in Munich, where the Helles style originated,” said co-founder Winston Lin. Clean, crisp, and easy to drink, 815 is built to be the ultimate food-pairing beer for the tapas menu.
As for the Lovelace, this beer was crafted to balance a crisp, clean lager finish with the hop-forward character typical of the West Coast style.
“Boasting notes of strawberry, lemon-lime, and fresh herb, it offers a refreshing and highly drinkable experience, making it a standout choice for craft beer enthusiasts,” added Lin.

The vibe
The brewery is bringing what it calls an “elevated West Coast aesthetic” to the converted industrial building, offering a space that is anchored by natural light from overhead skylights, warm earthy wood tones, and sleek black and crimson accents.
The lounge will feature custom-built seating, including a wooden dome booth designed as a centrepiece for intimate group gatherings.
“Our goal for 310 Victoria Dr. is to give people an inviting, elevated space to enjoy great food and really good beer,” said Zuber. “Whether you’re stopping by for a quick flight or hanging out over tapas with friends, we want this to feel like a true destination in the neighbourhood.”
