Musician David Byrne, also known as a member of Talking Heads, was recently in Vancouver to play a solo show at Queen Elizabeth Theatre as part of his Who Is the Sky Tour. During his visit, Byrne made sure to check out some of the local eats our city has to offer and was spotted at two restaurants.

First, Byrne made a stop at the Michelin-starred Burdock & Co (2702 Main St., Vancouver), where he ordered the tasting menu in addition to other bites like uni and scallops.

Burdock & Co is led by chef Andrea Carlson and is known best for its selection of modern Pacific Northwest cuisine with a focus on botanical, wild, and vegetal ingredients.

Following his tasting menu experience, Byrne made a stop at Harvest Community Foods (243 Union St., Vancouver), which is part of the same family of restaurants as Burdock & Co and Bar Gobo.

A representative from Harvest shared that he had ordered the #23 off the menu, which is the Udon with coconutĀ turmeric curry, puff tofu, shiitake, and greens.

“[He] stayed for a good 45 minutes to an hour. Read his ebook and ate,” shared the staff member. “Seriously best famous person ever.”

Harvest is a locally sourced grocery store and noodle soup cafe that is owned and operated by chefs Andrea Carlson (Burdock & Co.) and Gabriella Meyer.
