Vancouver brewery moves into the cafe scene with launch of new coffee concept

Something new has been brewing over at Strange Fellows, and surprisingly, it’s not beer.
The Vancouver brewery is announcing a full-scale relaunch, featuring a redesigned interior, a revamped menu, and a new cafe and coffee program dubbed Creatures Coffee.
“Our curiosity around taste and process inevitably led us deep down the coffee rabbit hole,” said Iain Hill, co-founder and brewmaster at Strange Fellows Brewing. “It wasn’t long before we had our own mini coffee roaster nestled among the fermentation tanks. With the same spirit of experimentation that we bring to brewing beer, we began exploring different flavour profiles, initially roasting beans just for our own enjoyment. One thing led to another, and sure enough, we decided this was worth sharing with our community. It felt like a natural next step for Strange Fellows Brewing; another opportunity to bring people together over something carefully crafted.”

The program, which was developed in collaboration with Home Island Coffee Partners, will feature espresso drinks, batch coffee, proper tea, and nitro cold brew, with rotating roasts served up in the new cafe space. There will also be fresh pastries on site courtesy of ExAnimo Baked Goods.
Creatures Coffee will also be bringing the first refillable coffee container program to Vancouver, offering premium coffee beans in a sustainable, refillable tin.
The cafe will be open from 7 a.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. on weekends, while beer and food service begins at noon.
In addition to all the exciting coffee news, Strange Fellows’ fully renovated kitchen will be serving up an expanded menu. Think Rustic Roman-style pizza based on a slow-fermented focaccia dough along with loaded nachos, Talisman-marinated chicken wings, and other shareables.

“We’ve been around since the beginning of the craft beer revolution,” said Aaron Jonkheere, co-founder and co-owner of Strange Fellows Brewing. “The industry has shifted from a fringe-led movement to a sophisticated sector catering to a wide variety of people. It has matured. That is why we’re maturing the space and the brand into something greater. It’s a natural progression that matches the industry where it is, more a community than solely a class of beverage. ”
