The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) is sharing some information about a violent attack involving a couple in downtown that left a man injured on the pavement.
According to the VPD, the incident occurred near Nelson and Richards streets last night at around 11:45 p.m.
VPD said that the couple was walking back to their hotel from a concert when a stranger approached the pair from behind. The suspect punched one of them in the face. VPD said the victim then fell to the ground, hitting his head on the pavement.
The VPD also confirmed that the couple was actually visiting from out of town.
After that, the suspect fled towards Granville Street.
The victim suffered serious injuries, according to VPD, and the suspect has yet to be located.

VPD has described the suspect as a white man who is between 5’5″ and 5’8″ tall. VPD believes he’s between 20 and 35 years old, with a medium build. At the time of the attack, he was wearing fingerless gloves.
Police are now looking for witnesses or footage of the downtown Vancouver attack.
“Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the assault or who has CCTV footage from the area to contact Vancouver Police.”
