The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) has shared some scary footage of a 75-year-old getting violently robbed near East Hastings Street and Jackson Avenue earlier this week.
According to the VPD, the incident occurred on Tuesday, calling it a “very serious incident,” and saying that the victim lives in the area.
He was “going for a walk in the neighbourhood and was attacked and robbed,” VPD Constable Megan Lui said.
She added that the suspects are still out there and police hope that by sharing the video, the public may be able to help track the assailants down.

The video shows the victim being dragged from the road to the sidewalk and viciously thrown against a wall repeatedly before the victim collapses onto the ground. The suspects then flee the scene. Bystanders can be seen watching the incident unfold.
“We are asking anyone who witnessed the robbery or has information that could assist investigators to come forward. We want to identify those responsible and hold them accountable,” Lui said.
The incident occurred at around 9:15 a.m., when the victim was robbed by a “group of suspects,” according to the VPD.
One suspect allegedly repeatedly pushed the victim to the ground before punching him multiple times in the face and stealing his personal belongings.
“The victim followed the suspects in an attempt to recover his property. During the confrontation, he was slammed into a wall twice before the suspects fled the area,” VPD said.
Witnesses and bystanders called the police following the attack.
The victim suffered a head injury, bruises, and abrasions that were treated at the hospital. He has since been released.
