A staff member at a senior’s long-term care home in Surrey has tested positive for coronavirus.

Fraser Health confirmed the staff case at Peace Portal Seniors Village in a news release Thursday evening.

A rapid response team has been dispatched, and public health staff are working to contact residents’ families.

“Fraser Health is working with staff to identify anyone who may have been exposed and is taking steps to protect the health of all staff, residents and families,” the health authority said.

The staff member is currently self-isolating at home.

Additional control measures have been enacted at Peace Portal including restricting visitors, restricting movement within the facility, increasing cleaning frequency, and enhanced monitoring of staff and residents for symptoms.

The long-term care home is owned and operated by Retirement Concepts.
