Inside the massive new Colony Granville Strip location before it opens (PHOTOS)

It’s been a really exciting time for openings in Vancouver recently, especially if you’re into eating, drinking, and partying around the Granville Strip.

Between the Hotel Belmont’s basement ‘hotel party’ vibes and Prost Haus’ rooftop German beer hall shenanigans, downtown dwellers and visitors are in no shortage of fresh places to check out.

Lucky for us, another highly-anticipated venue is about to open its doors on the Granville Strip – Colony’s Entertainment District location.

Blueprint announced in February that it would be opening a new 15,000-sq-ft space – the biggest to date of the four locations – following the opening of Colony Northwoods in North Vancouver.

Opening at 967 Granville Street, Colony Entertainment District took over the space from Caprice Nightclub, which closed in January 2018 after 15 years of operation.

Now, the completely transformed space is preparing to open its doors for the first time early next week.

The new Colony has 15 big screen TVs, a full arcade section outfitted with new and retro games, and a custom-made indoor bocce court complete with a weekly league night (it’s happening Thursdays, people).

The food program is the same as the other outposts, which means comforting and filling grub like the Crunchy Chicken Sandwich, the Half Rack Of Ribs & Chicken, Loaded Tater Tots, and the Rainbow Glory Bowl with fried tofu will be up for order.

Expect the same great drink selection at this Colony too, there are three bars (two on the main level, one on the upper) offering 20 taps with plenty of local brews, some are located just a stone’s throw from the new Granville Street hotspot.

Way more than just a place to park it and eat and drink (which is totally fine if that’s your jam), Colony Granville will be offering weekly events like Motown on Mondays, Tapped Out Tuesdays, Wednesday night trivia, Thursday night bocce league, and DJs on the weekends.

Colony Granville will be open Monday to Friday from 11:30 am until late and Saturday and Sunday from 10 am until late – like 3 am late.

Colony’s popular brunch will be integrated into the menu within the next month or so, so stay tuned for that.

An extended wooden street-front patio is also on the way, but likely not until patio season next year.
