First look at Vancouver's new beachside seafood and oyster bar (PHOTOS)

A brand new beachside seafood and oyster bar is about to open its doors in English Bay.

Papi’s Seafood and Oyster Bar is slated to open on June 6 in the former spot of the Beach Bay Café and Patio, which shuttered earlier this year.

The 1193 Denman Street space has gotten a total (and delicious) refresh.

Still owned and operated by the Viaggio Hospitality Group (Cibo, UVA, and Ancora), the seaside/beachy vibes are still very much there, but now there’s a thoughtful menu of food and beverages to match the relaxing atmosphere.

Papi’s seats 75 inside and can seat up to 34 people more on its sun-trap of a patio, something the location has become known for in the neighbourhood.

The back of the space can be bought out for receptions and special occasions and can fit up to 100 people.

This new spot is opening with everything: lunch, dinner, weekend brunch, and two daily happy hours from 2 to 5 pm and 9 pm until close.

As one might expect, folks can find a great selection of seafood-forward grub here from Head Chef Max Straczek.

Diners can look forward to an array of casual sharables like the triple cooked fries with aioli, several varieties of rotating fresh oysters (6 to 8 daily), and hearty mains like fish and chips, clam spaghetti, and Papi’s Chowder made with tomato broth and local seafood.

Oyster shooters are most definitely a thing here, and guests will be able to enjoy tequila, vodka, whisky, or all three.

If shooters aren’t your jam not to worry, there’s a great selection of cocktails here as well. Honey Water Margarita, Papi’s Caesar, and the Sea Wall Banger are just a few.

We’ll have more on the brunch menu here soon, but in the meantime, there is a lot for you to try on the lunch and dinner menu, and we suggest you come hungry and prepared with sunglasses when you do.
