Vancouver's beloved chocolate buffet is making its long-awaited return

After over a decade since the last time it was offered, Sutton Place Hotel is bringing back its iconic chocolate and dessert buffet to celebrate its 40th anniversary.
Taking place from May 30 to 31 and June 6 to 7, you’ll be able to enjoy a buffet of all sorts of sweet treats at the Michelin-recommended Boulevard Kitchen and Oyster Bar.
While chocolate and dessert are the main focus here, Boulevard will be serving a brunch buffet inspired by the iconic chocolate buffet — meaning there will be savoury options available too.
The meal will start with a selection of seasonal starters — think fresh asparagus salad, chicken liver mousse, and beef carpaccio — before things move into more substantial brunch options like eggs Benedict, crab and shrimp Louie, and grilled hanger steak with eggs.
The tribute to the chocolate buffet comes at the end of the experience, which is inspired by the original “Chocoholic” experience that was served at the now-closed Fleuri.
The offerings are reimagined by Executive Pastry Chef Kenta Takahashi, who is the three-time winner of Canada’s Best Pastry Chef by Canada’s 100 Best. Takahashi and team will be offering an array of house-made desserts and signature bonbons.

“Forty years is no small milestone, and at The Sutton Place Hotel Vancouver it is being celebrated the way any great legacy should be by revisiting the moments guests still talk about,” wrote Sutton Place Hotel. “For many, one memory stands out above the rest. Long before dessert tasting menus and brunch became a trend, the hotel’s legendary Chocolate Buffet set the standard. It was not just a meal. It was an experience.”
Reservations for the return of the chocolate buffet are available online. Entry for adults costs $118 (plus tax and gratuity per person), while children can enter for $58 (plus tax and gratuity per child).
