Check out this free SkyTrain dance party on New Years Eve

Dec 31 2017, 3:30 am

If you plan on taking SkyTrain to get to your New Years Eve destination, why not get the dance party started before you’ve even arrived?

That’s the main idea behind a free event being hosted by local group Party4Health, which according to their Facebook page, are a “group of event designers setting out to undermine toxic social norms associated with conventional partying.” Or put more simply, partying safely while still having fun.

The NYE Dance Party on SkyTrain kicks off at 7:30 pm at Waterfront Canada Line station and is scheduled to run until 9 pm.

And thanks to free transit on New Years in Metro Vancouver, this event won’t cost you a dime.

While attendees are encouraged to show up and have a good time, organizers are reminding people that everyone must still abide by regular transit rules. These include:

TRANSIT BYLAWS
1. No inappropriate language
2. No drinking
3. No smoking
4. No illegal activity.

TRANSIT OFFENCES
1. Failure to heed order to leave (by transit staff)
2. Delaying closing of doors
3. Lying to transit officers

And for the occasion Party4Health has added some of their own guidelines:

1. Respect fellow commuters. Wave and smile.
2. Wear clothing. No nudity on the party train. But costumes encouraged.
3. No pushing or shoving.
4. DANCE.
5. Party like its 1999.

Attendees are also reminded that they assume complete responsibility for their own personal safety.

So if you’ve ever had the urge to bust a move on the way to Broadway/City Hall or kick it on the way to King Edward, this event might just be the perfect opportunity to do so.
