Express Vietnamese restaurant with $10 pho opens in downtown Vancouver

Cheap eats can be hard to find in downtown Vancouver, with many being tucked out of the way. So when a place advertising affordable bites opens in a transit hotspot like Granville Station, we tend to take notice.
Chao Mami Express is a new concept from the same team behind Chao Mami, which opened in Burnaby in 2024. Less than a year later, the restaurant has expanded with a new express concept.
Located at #80 678 Dunsmuir St., Vancouver, in the former space of Xing Fu Tang, the new location opened its doors on March 24.

Chao Mami told Dished that it will offer a happy hour pho deal for $10 from 2 to 6 p.m. daily. Additionally, there will be other affordable bites available, like its wide range of bao flavours and spring rolls, all for $4.25, in addition to drinks like pandan coffee, Thai tea, and Vietnamese salt coffee.

For those unfamiliar with the original Chao Mami, the restaurant is located in Burnaby and owned by sibling duo Jennifer and Steven Nguyen, who revitalized their parent’s restaurant (originally called Broken Rice) into the Chao Mami we know and love.
On its menu, you’ll find many Vietnamese dishes like BĂșn RiĂȘu (Crab Noodle Soup) and Thá»t Kho Trứng (Slow-Braised Pork Belly and Egg).
Chao Mami Express is currently soft-opened, with a grand opening scheduled for sometime in mid-April.
