Team Quebec delivers sports stadium-style fireworks spectacle at Honda Celebration of Light

From the roar of the crowds at “English Bay Stadium,” Team Quebec’s fireworks show on Wednesday night transformed English Bay into a full-blown tribute to the “Champions” of sport.

The second night of the 2025 Honda Celebration of Light saw the skies ignite to a soundtrack filled with adrenaline-pumping anthems, capturing the spirit of victory and competition.

Montreal area-based Royal Pyrotechnie’s “Champions” theme featured a 25-minute musical journey through some of the most iconic songs ever blasted through arena speakers. The show opened with a CTV sports commentator’s iconic live reaction to Sidney Crosby’s golden goal at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games’ men’s hockey final, overlaid on Aerosmith’s “Dream On.”

This was followed by Metallica’s “Enter Sandman,” building intensity with Blur’s “Song 2,” Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger” and Bill Conti’s “Gonna Fly Now” from Rocky.

The soundtrack mixed nostalgia and hype with tracks like “Jump Around,” “The Best,” “My Hero,” “All I Do Is Win,” and “We Will Rock You.” Electronic favourites “Sandstorm,” “Kernkraft 400,” and “Narco” added a late-night jolt before Coldplay’s “Fix You” brought a brief emotional shift. The finale surged back to celebration mode with “Wavin’ Flag,” “Can’t Hold Us,” and “The Final Countdown.”

In total, Royal Pyrotechnie packed in 23 songs into their fast-paced pyromusical soundtrack.

This was Royal Pyrochechnie’s second performance at the Honda Celebration of Light. They first competed in Vancouver’s first competition in 2017, representing Team Canada during that year’s Canada 150 celebrations.

No major incidents were reported by the Vancouver Police Department on Wednesday night.

Team Yukon, represented by Midnight Sun Fireworks, kicked off the 33rd annual Honda Celebration of Light this past weekend. This year’s fireworks will close on Saturday, July 26, with the performance by Team Nova Scotia, represented by Fireworks FX.

All three nights feature a drone show, featuring the use of 400 drones, which includes a climactic sequence for the countdown to the fireworks.
