11 Indigenous songs that appeared in Team Nova Scotia's Honda Celebration of Light pyromusical

The 2025 Honda Celebration of Light concluded with a powerful and resonant finale last night as Team Nova Scotia, represented by Fireworks FX, delivered a visually stunning fireworks show synchronized to an all-Indigenous soundtrack.
Crafted as a tribute to Indigenous voices and resilience, carrying the theme of “Voices of Fire,” the pyromusical soundtrack featured a diverse mix of artists from across Canada’s Indigenous communities.

The show opened with “Sisters” by The Halluci Nation featuring Northern Voice, setting a deeply rhythmic and spiritual tone that carried through the 25-minute spectacle over English Bay.
A standout moment came with Elisapie’s haunting Inuktitut cover of Blondie’s “Heart of Glass,” reimagined as “Uummati Attanarsimat,” offering a poignant reflection during the show’s quieter interlude. This was followed by the thunderous heartbeat of “Bangishamon” by Boogey The Beat featuring Southern Thunderbird Medicine Drum, building toward the show’s fiery crescendo.
The soundtrack closed with “Ukiuq” by The Jerry Cans, blending Inuktitut lyrics with folk-rock energy to end the night on a celebratory and unifying note. Altogether, Team Nova Scotia’s pyromusical soundtrack incorporated 11 songs.
The all-Canadian fireworks lineup for this year’s festival — featuring two pyrotechnics companies and a volunteer-based group from Quebec, Yukon, and Nova Scotia — marked a historic first in the 33-year history of Vancouver’s fireworks competition. Fireworks FX’s finale not only showcased their pyrotechnic artistry but also celebrated Indigenous storytelling through music.
