Bloody new 'Carrie' trailer features Vancouver high school | Daily Hive

The Vancouver film and TV industry is continuing its busy year, and local horror fans won’t have to wait long to see the city on the screen as a local high school serves as the backdrop for Prime Video’s Carrie TV series.

Eric Hamber Secondary School features prominently in the official trailer released on Wednesday, Sept. 9.

This most recent adaptation of Carrie, the 1974 novel written by acclaimed horror writer Stephen King, has Mike Flanagan at the helm. He has experience bringing King’s stories to the screen, as he was the director and writer of the sequel to The Shining, 2019’s Doctor Sleep.

Eric Hamber was transformed into Ewen High School during the filming, which took place in Metro Vancouver from June to October 2026.

In the novel as well as the fan-favourite 1976 film of the same name, Carrie discovers the ability to control objects from a distance and eventually uses this power to take revenge against those who mocked her.

Various locations inside Eric Hamber can be seen in the trailer, including classrooms, a changeroom, and a gymnasium.

Viewers get a taste of the traumatic incidents that begin to push Carrie over the edge, and yes, true to the source material, there are some bloody scenes in the trailer.

A fiery scene that was filmed in Cloverdale last year also made the cut for the new promo.

Parts of the historic neighbourhood and designated town centre were transformed for the multi-day shoot, with several storefronts altered and streets closed.

The highlight of the filming was an action-packed set piece where a number of cars appear to be set ablaze.

According to Paul Orazietti, executive director of the Cloverdale BIA, filming is a vital part of the community’s economy.

Heather Graham was also in Vancouver filming for Carrie, and she enjoyed various parts of the city quite a bit and highlighted something she’s obsessed with for her fans.

“We shot the Carrie TV series in Vancouver. Have you been? I think it’s one of the most beautiful cities,” Graham’s post stated.

There was something in particular, though, that Graham felt extra passionate about.

“I’m obsessed with the bike path in Stanley Park,” she wrote in her post.

Graham took several photos in and around Stanley Park. Graham also noted in her IG post that she was reunited with the roller skates she wore in Boogie Nights, which would’ve paired perfectly with the seawall.

In reference to Vancouver, she also said the “food there is good,” and another picture in her post shows that she had hit up the iconic Vij’s.

Graham’s post received almost 80,000 likes and tons of comments from her fans, including one who said, “Vancouver looks good on you.”
