Capo and the Spritz has officially opened in Yaletown

Capo and the Spritz, meet Vancouver — Vancouver, meet Capo and the Spritz, your new favourite pizza joint and cocktail destination.

This concept is brought to us by the fine folks at Autostrada Hospitality and it officially opened to the public today, September 21.

Located on the ground level of boutique hotel OPUS Vancouver, Capo and the Spritz has taken over the space formerly occupied by La Pentola and OPUS Bar.

The business operates as one destination with two different rooms to choose from: Capo, or the Spritz.

This new eatery has a welcoming, casual atmosphere, something we love for any fresh destination in Yaletown. The polished and chic interior was done by Ste. Marie Art + Design.

The Spritz (aka the former OPUS Bar) and Capo both offer the same menu of eats and beverages, although the former is more of a cocktails-and-bites vibe, the team told Daily Hive.

Capo, on the other hand, is the main dining area of the restaurant. It boasts ample room to feast and has several TVs that will play televised sports games and throwback Formula 1 races.

This concept has some noteworthy names attached to it, including Chef Travis McCord who will be at the helm of the kitchen, which offers Neapolitan inspired pizza and other Italian favourites.

We tried two stellar ‘zas during our first visit.

Shrooms (Hanna McLean/Daily Hive)

There was the Shrooms pizza, topped with funghi, taleggio, kale, honey, and black pepper and the Rebel, a combo of prosciutto cotto, cacciocavello, and chilli pineapple.

Both of these were great, and there are still nine more varieties to bite into on this menu. Return visits to this restaurant will be necessary.

Capo’s pizza crust was bubbled to perfection and the pie toppings were generous — the creations here are certified must-tries.

Other highlights include the dreamy Prosciutto Di San Danielle & Burrata, which can be ordered with the Gnocco Fritto, a bite-sized authentic Italian bread.

It’s a match made in heaven. Trust us when we say you need this combo in your life.

In addition to a to-be-revealed weekend brunch menu (which we’re told is going to be unreal), Capo and the Spritz offers a handful of lunchtime sandwiches made using much loved local bakery Livia’s hoagie-style buns. These are available from 11 am to 2 pm.

Naturally, this spot has several kinds of pasta up for order, alongside staples such as a classic Caesar Salad and a refreshing Radicchio Salad made with arugula, apple, hazelnut, and a tangy lemon dressing.

As for the drink program, award winning bartender Kaitlyn Stewart is the Bar Director, so you know it’s top-notch.

From a variety of spritz’ to “Capo Classics” like negronis, Manhattans, and sours, this eatery has all the staples and then some when it comes to libations.

Now, we can’t go without mentioning Capo’s happy hour. Available daily from 2:30 to 5:30 pm, find drinks like $5 wine, $10 spritz’, and even get $5 off pizza during this three-hour period.

Capo and the Spritz has officially opened to the public. You can find it open Monday to Friday from 11 am to midnight and weekends from 10 am to midnight.
