Hockey players can embark on several different paths in retirement.
But teaching famous drag queens how to play ball hockey? That’s a new one.
Former Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames defenceman Tyson Barrie recently appeared on an episode of Slaycation, a reality TV show where famousĀ drag queens compete in challenges during a winter retreat in the Rocky Mountains.
As soon as Barrie appeared on the show, he started to catch the attention of some of the queens.
“This man is fine as hell,” Nicky Doll said.
However, the queens were a little taken aback after Barrie removed one of his front teeth.

“I’ll be damned if I’m gonna get out of here and get my teeth knocked out,” Alyssa Edwards said.
However, not all of the reality TV stars were scared off by Barrie’s fake tooth trick.
“Tyson, baby, we can go on a date. Just leave the tooth in,” Tessa Testicle said.
Tessa Testicle may be disappointed to learn that Barrie got married in the summer of 2023, in a wedding that was chock-full of NHL stars.
Barrie’s main purpose on the show wasn’t to show off his missing front tooth. It was to teach the queens to play a game of ball hockey.
“Queens, I’m gonna teach you a few fundamentals here,” Barrie said. “We’re gonna start with stickhandling.”
“I know how to handle a stick,” Tessa Testicle said.
After giving the queens some pointers, Barrie stepped aside and let the six contestants play a game of two-on-two ball hockey, with two of the queens slapping on the pads to play goalie.
Barrie retired from the NHL in August after 15 NHL seasons. In his 822-game NHL career, the Victoria, B.C., native finished with 110 goals and 502 career points.
Although he officially announced his retirement in the summer, it appears as though the season was filmed while he was still playing. Production for the show took place between January and March of 2025, while Barrie bounced between the Flames and their AHL affiliate, the Calgary Wranglers.
The season was filmed near Calgary in the Alberta Rockies, with a shop in Canmore popping up earlier in the episode.
After retiring, Barrie joined the Vancouver Canucks broadcast team, where he regularly appears on intermission segments during home games, alongside Landon Ferraro and Dan Murphy.
The latest season of Slaycation aired in December and is available on Crave.
