Vancouver food events in January you don't want to miss

Start working on that New Year’s resolution to do more in the city by participating in some of the epic food events happening in Vancouver.

Whether it’s trying a special menu at one of Vancouver’s popular restaurants or participating in a cocktail showdown, there’s plenty to do in the city.

But enough with the preamble, here’s your list of can’t-miss food events happening in and around Vancouver this month.

Formline: Calligraphy — A Tea Party Celebration

Head over to the Bill Reid Gallery to celebrate Bill Reid’s legacy during his birthday weekend. There will be a tea party and a conversation with Dr. Martine Reid and Chester Gryski, who will discuss Bill Reid’s creative collaboration with print and book designer Bob Reid.

Enjoy a night of live music, dancing, and delicious Ukrainian food at the Ukrainian Cultural Centre. There will be performances by the Barvinok Choir, Vancouver Ukrainian Folk Orchestra, Dovbush Dancers, and more.

Grand Mezcal Tasting with Food Pairing

Enjoy a night where you’ll taste mezcal paired with artisanal Mexican cuisine crafted by the expert chefs at Alimentaria Mexicana. There will be five varieties of mezcal to taste alongside a mezcal expert who will guide participants through the tasting and share insights into the history, tradition and nuances of this Mexican spirit.

Chinatown Cocktail Showdown

Join the second annual Chinatown cocktail showdown where eight of Chinatown’s finest bars and restaurants (Bagheera, Bao Bei, Brasserie, The Chickadee Room, Fiorino, The Keefer Bar, Kissa Tanto, Laowai, and Meo) go head-to-head to craft the best Lunar New Year-inspired cocktail.

Dine Out Vancouver

The popular annual fest (Canada’s largest food and drink festival) features hundreds of restaurants, each offering multi-course dinners at affordable, fixed-price points.

Dine Out Vancouver gives locals the opportunity to experience dinners at Vancouver restaurants, from fine dining to family-friendly and everything in between.

As a delicious bonus, many destinations normally offer special lunch menus as well.

Vancouver’s original street food festival is returning for its 13th year outside the Vancouver Art Gallery. As part of Dine Out Vancouver, Street Food City will feature plenty of different food trucks serving a wide variety of cuisine. Food trucks include Via Tevere, Diso Cheetah, Taste of Malaysia, Indish, Dos Amigos Shameless Buns, and many more.

Taste Our Travles 2025 Basque Region

The 15th annual Hot Chocolate Fest is returning once again this year. Enjoy tasty and unique hot chocolate creations from numerous spots in and around Vancouver. Last year saw some outrageous creations like a hot chocolate with marinara sauce and Hot Cheetos, a Dragon Ball Z-themed drink, and even one hot chocolate that is illegal south of the border.
