Saturday tickets already sold out for Canada Sevens rugby at BC Place

It’s rugby sevens week in Vancouver, as players representing 16 countries have arrived to town in anticipation of the fifth edition of Canada Sevens this weekend.

The tournament has been a smash hit with fans ever since its debut in 2016, and this year is no exception.

Single-day tickets have already sold out for Saturday (though a limited number of two-day weekend passes still remain), while a Canada Sevens spokesperson tells Daily Hive 80% of Sunday tickets are gone as well.

Capacity is being capped at about 40,000 each day, which should make for a raucous atmosphere — as the lower bowl should be full. Tournament organizers tell Daily Hive they are expecting a weekend attendance “well over 70,000” for the fourth year in a row. The Canada Sevens attendance record is 77,097, set in 2018.

Sevens is an all-day affair. The first match on Saturday kicks off at 9 am, and the day doesn’t end until 6:55 pm, when the final match of the day concludes. A total of 45 matches will be played over the weekend, with the Cup Final taking place at 6:28 pm on Sunday.
