Well folks, it’s almost here.

Canada has officially been a Confederation for 150 years – and that’s a big number by North American standards – so it’s time for us Canucks to celebrate this milestone the best way we know how, eating and drinking all the patriotic goodies we can get our hockey-playing-syrup-loving hands on!

This occasion is so big that everyone is doing something special to make July 1 the most delicious day in Canadian history.

RibFest 2017, the eighth annual ribs competition, will heat things up on Canada Day  at Mamie Taylor’s in Chinatown. Look for ribs and eats from Dixie’s BBQ, Railtown Cafe, the Blueprint Group, Merchant’s Workshop, and Mamie Taylor’s. Only 100 Judging Tickets will be available to members of the public, who will also help choose the winning chef/restaurant. 149. Canada 150 Cocktail from Fairmont Chateau Whistler

The Fairmont Chateau Whistler’s signature Canada 150 Cocktail is created with Vancouver Island Sheringham Gin and housemade preserve made of local organic raspberries. This drink is topped with foam formed from Quails’ Gate Optima late harvest wine and garnished with a gold-dipped maple leaf. Guests who order this will receive the gold leaves and crystal coupe glass the cocktail is served in, as well as a personalized jar of honey-raspberry preserve and recipe card so they may recreate their own Canadian cocktail at home. The Canada 150 Cocktail is $150.

150. 1867 Pale Ale from Trading Post Brewing Company

This special Canada 150 beer will be available through the spring and summer at lelem’ at The Fort Café in Fort Langley National Historic Site.

This drink consists of Long Table Gin, Lillet Blanc, lemon, lavender, maraschino, and chocolate bitters. This cocktail was inspired by the music of Gord Downie of The Tragically Hip, it is $15. Available all of July.

A combo of Bulliet Bourbon, Black Apple Tea Syrup, Fino Sherry, Lemon Juice, Bar Spoon Maple Syrup and Bittered Sling Clingstone Peach Bitters. This cocktail was named after the first provincial capital of Ontario, and it was created by Sabrine Dhaliwal.
