Brock Boeser isn’t leaving.
In a shocking development, the Vancouver Canucks have re-signed Boeser in the first hour of free agency. The new contract is a seven-year deal worth $7.25 million per season.
āBrock has been a huge part of our organization, and we are extremely happy to have him back in the fold,ā said Canucks GM Patrik Allvin. āHe has scored some big goals for our hockey club and has established himself as a very dangerous offensive player.
“Brock is a leader and culture setter in our locker room, and weāre confident he will continue to play an important role for our team moving forward doing great work both on and off the ice.ā
Everyone expected Boeser to leave Vancouver in free agency, given comments made by management in recent months and reports that he felt disrespected. He entered the day as one of the most coveted free agents on the market.
Teammate Thatcher Demko had the best reaction to the news.
“Thank you sweet baby Jesus, thank you,” Demko said in an Instagram story.

Boeser reportedly rejected a five-year contract worth $40 million earlier this season and will make more total money on the deal signed today.
The 28-year-old right winger is coming off a disappointing season that saw him score 25 goals and 50 points in 75 games. That’s a dip in production from 2023-24 when he scored a career-high 40 goals and 73 points.
Still, Boeser has scored at a 30-goal pace (30 goals per 82 games) throughout his career and it was unlikely the Canucks could improve their team by letting him walk for nothing.
Drafted by Vancouver in 2015, Boeser has played his entire 554-game career with the Canucks. He ranks eighth all-time in franchise history in goals (204) and 12th in points (434).
