A seven-year-old boy sustained non-life-threatening injuries after he was hit by a vehicle while crossing a street in Port Moody on Monday evening.

At 5:10 pm, police responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a car near the 2300-block of Clarke Street.

Upon their arrival, police discovered the boy had attempted to cross the street after getting out of his parents’ vehicle and was struck by a westbound vehicle.

The boy was knocked to the ground and suffered injuries to his face as a result of the incident. He received medical treatment and his injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening.

Police said the driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators. And while speed and alcohol were not factors in the collision, poor visibility and weather conditions “did contribute,” they added.
