Brock Boeser’s time with the Vancouver Canucks seems to be coming to an end.
The right-handed winger is a top candidate to be traded before today’s noon PT deadline. The pending unrestricted free agent has 18 goals and 37 points in 54 games so far this season and can provide a scoring boost.
It seems as if movement is picking up around Boeser, as he is “more likely than not” to be traded before the deadline, per Daily Faceoff’s Frank Seravalli.
Sounds like trade talks are picking up on #Canucks Brock Boeser.
Nothing imminent at the moment, but more likely than not that Boeser is on the move before 3pm ET.

A trade would come as a surprise to no one. Boeser’s name has been in the rumour mill since the start of the season, as he and the Canucks have been unable to agree on an extension.
The Canucks reportedly presented a five-year, $40-million offer, which was rejected by Boeser’s camp. The 28-year-old is looking for a longer deal spanning six, seven, or eight years, per reports.
Boeser spoke honestly to the media before Wednesday’s game, knowing it could possibly be his last in Vancouver. He spoke about his love for the city and how much he has enjoyed playing for the Canucks and in front of these fans.
The Canucks can retain up to 50% of Boeser’s salary, reducing his cap hit to $3.325 million for the acquiring team. They are willing to do that to get the best asset in return per Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman. That’s a good contract for a player who scored 40 goals last season and has always risen to the moment in the postseason.
This is a seller’s market, as evidenced by the deals that have been completed so far. The Canucks should be able to get a strong return for Boeser, including potentially a first-round pick and more.
Boeser does have a modified no-trade clause, giving him protection against 10 teams per PuckPedia. This helps him have some control over where he goes.
If the Canucks do trade Boeser for a package which includes picks and prospects, there’s a chance they’d flip those assets for a player who can help right now.
The deadline is fast approaching at noon PT, and the Canucks are sure to be busy before then. It seems Boeser will be traded, and they could have more moves up their sleeve.
