The body of a 61-year-old Vancouver woman has been recovered from the Burrard Inlet in Port Moody, according to RCMP.

Monica Winter was last seen on Friday, February 7, leaving work in the 1200 block of West Broadway Avenue in Vancouver.

Burnaby RCMP discovered Winter’s blue Toyota Corolla on February 10 near Fraser River Foreshore Park on Tillicum Street and Fraser Park Drive. Her dog, Chloe, was also missing.

According to a release from University RCMP, “on March 18, in Port Moody, the body of a woman was recovered from the Burrard Inlet. The BC Coroners Service has since confirmed the identity as the missing woman from the University RCMP.”

“While the BC Coroners Service will continue to investigate and attempt to determine cause of death, we do not believe criminality is involved in the woman’s death,” said Sgt. Eric Baskette of the University RCMP in the release.

Editor’s note: A previous version of this article erroneously stated Winter was discovered in the Fraser River. The article has since been updated with the correct location.
