A body was found at the site of an explosion in Langley on Sunday, and homicide investigators are taking the case.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team said in a news release Monday that human remains were found in an outbuilding at a rural residential property in the 24300 block of 8 Avenue after firefighters extinguished the flames.
During a discussion with the BC Coroners Service, it was decided that IHIT should take the case.
“We are still in the early stages of our investigation. We are working with the Langley RCMP’s Serious Crime Unit and Arson Unit to advance what’s now become a homicide investigation,” Sgt. Timothy Pierotti of IHIT said. “Our investigators will continue to be in the area throughout the upcoming days, canvassing for witnesses and residential CCTV footage.”
IHIT is asking anyone who was in the area or who has video footage of the explosion to speak with them. Investigators can be contacted at 1-877-551-4448 or by email at [email protected].
