A 44-year-old burger restaurant is opening its first-ever Vancouver location

Burger fans, get excited: a burger chain from the 1980s is planning to open its doors in Vancouver.
On its website, Boardwalk Burgers has listed a Vancouver location at 2529 Renfrew St. as “Coming Soon.”
For those unfamiliar, Boardwalk Burgers first got its start in 1981. On its website, Boardwalk says founders Dave and Fran DiFerdinando dreamed of bringing the unmistakable taste of Boardwalk fries, a taste that is “synonymous with summer and joy,” to people everywhere around the country, not just those along the beach.
Since then, Boardwalk has expanded to over 25 locations across Canada.
This new location will mark the first for the chain in Vancouver, but it currently operates other locations throughout B.C., in Abbotsford, Chilliwack, and Victoria.
On its menu, you can find a wide variety of burgers and chicken sandwiches, such as its Sriracha Burger, which is served with pepper jack, crispy onion straws, and sriracha aioli. It also serves wings, milkshakes, and fries using the same special recipe since it first opened 40 years ago.
