Among the many celebrities that have been spotted dining around Vancouver (including sightings of Nick Jonas around the city), musician and member of Black Eyed Peas Allan Pineda Lindo (stage name apl.de.ap) was spotted dining at the recently opened Haliná.

“Look who stopped by @halina.yvr,” shared East Village Vancouver BIA on its Instagram.

Lindo was in Vancouver for a talk at Web Summit on agroforestry. In addition to his career in music, he’s known for his work on fighting climate change and empowering rural communities, and has planted over 380 million trees so far.

As for Haliná, the restaurant is brought to use by the same team behind Bigboy’s Chigs To-Go and opened last year.

“Our vibe is lively and welcoming – where modern palate meets Filipino soul. The energy flows through upbeat music, vibrant gatherings, and flavours that celebrate both tradition and style. Our chef-driven menu reimagines Filipino tastes with bold, refined dishes for every craving. Fresh yet familiar, it’s food that feels like home and keeps you coming back,” wrote Haliná on its website.

On its menu, you can find dishes like Inihaw na Liempo (grilled pork belly, calamansi, cane vinegar, pickled papaya, and Java rice), Pancit Batil Patong (stir-fried egg noodles, ground beef, prawns, crispy liempo, Chinese sausage, crispy chicken skin, topped with vegetables and fried egg with side soup), and Salmon Berry Sinigang (miso and ponzu marinated coho salmon, pearl barley, okra, yu choy, tomato confit, crispy taro root with a blueberry sinigang broth).
