The BC Lions are preparing to rock out again by bringing another huge concert to Vancouver.
The team is announcing the artist for its fourth annual concert kickoff on Tuesday. The Lions started this tradition of bringing in a musical superstar for the first home game of the season.
Last year, 50 Cent performed in a Lions jersey for a sold-out BC Place. 53,788 fans took in the rap and hip-hop megastar’s performance, where he played all of his top songs.
The 50 Cent game was the best-attended Lions contest since 1991. He played for an hour before kickoff, and some players even came out of their locker rooms to watch.
The Lions have also brought in OneRepublic and LL Cool J in previous years. The club has tried to raise the stakes with each passing year by bringing in a more popular artist. Fans are excited to see what they have ready this time around.
The concert kickoff will take place just under a month from now on June 7 when the Edmonton Elks visit town.

Tickets to the game are already on sale, and the lower bowl is nearly sold out. With so few tickets left in the lower bowl, the Lions have opened the upper bowl in anticipation of a huge crowd.
Kids 17 years old and under can get in for just $19 after taxes and fees.

While the final attendance will likely depend on how big of an artist the team can secure, they sold out BC Place last year and could easily do so again, assuming they land a superstar for the concert.
The Lions have plenty of other special game themes planned for this year, including the watermelon smash game against the Saskatchewan Roughriders, a summer camp-themed game against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, and many more.
