Economic realities and hardships like the cost of living and housing affordability have made times challenging for many Vancouver residents, but amid a cold snap, where are the best places to cry?
While temperatures won’t be as cold as they have been in recent weeks, it’ll still be below freezing, and there’s lots of snow potentially on the way.

A transit vehicle
While a transit vehicle might give you more reasons to cry in snow or freezing weather, at least the cars offer some warmth.
As we told you in our initial piece about the best places to have a good cry, transit vehicles are great, particularly if they’re not busy.
For a more scenic cry, jump on a SeaBus.
Your favourite coffee shop
It’s the perfect time of year to cozy up with a hot beverage at your favourite coffee shop, and if you need a good cry, find a table at the back corner and let it out.
We’re also in the middle of the Vancouver Hot Chocolate Festival, a great way to cheer you up if you visit one of the participating establishments.
Restaurants with heated patios
Vancouver has no shortage of restaurants that feature heated patios, which are some of the best places to stay warm and have a good cry.
So, if you want to stay away from the crowds inside your favourite establishment, you might be able to find some privacy outdoors.
Cozy working from home
If your job doesn’t offer a work-from-home solution, tough luck, and more reasons to head to a coffee shop and cry.
However, if you can work from home, pause all your meetings, Keurig another cup, cozy up in a blanket, and watch the snow fall outside as the tears fall down your face.
Crying isn’t just an exercise in futility. It actually has a host of health benefits.
Cry at work
If you can’t work from home, screw it; if you need to cry, cry at work. It’s hopefully warm, and if you’re on a team of people who care about you, you’ll get some support from your peers.
In the best-case scenario, you get sent home with pay.
Vancouver libraries
Your local Vancouver Public Library branch has an assortment of great reads with great little nooks to boot.
Those nooks are comfy little spots to hide your head in a book and let out a good cry.
The Vancouver Art Gallery
The Vancouver Art Gallery has some moving exhibits on display, including J.E.H. MacDonald with A Tangled Garden and Denyse Thomasos: Just Beyond.
If you’re feeling sad, you can pretend that all of the art moves you on display at the art gallery and let out some tears in the comfortable warmth of the indoors.
