Do you find that there’s something especially romantic about taking slow and scenic train trips instead of quick, cramped flights? Well, we’ve got some travel inspiration for you.

Condé Nast Traveller recently unveiled its ranking of the world’s best train trips as part of the 39th annual Readers’ Choice Awards.

According to CN Traveller, readers cast almost 800,000 votes in the ranking of the planet’s top travel experiences. And Rocky Mountaineer won over passengers from around the world to land on the top 15 list.

“All aboard: it seems everyone is going loco for the locomotive,” said CN Traveller, which praised Rocky Mountaineer’s mountain-high, river-deep panoramas.

The world’s largest privately owned luxury tourist train company landed in sixth spot, and is joined on the list by rail luminaries like Scotland’s Royal Scotsman, India’s The Maharaja Express, and Australia’s The Ghan.

With its lavish glass-dome ceilings and huge windows, the Rocky Mountaineer has regularly made its way onto lists of top rail getaways in the world.

Sip on some exquisite bubbly and feast on five-star quality meals as you enjoy soaking in the natural beauty, wildlife, and scenery of Vancouver, Banff, and Jasper.

The Rocky Mountaineer was founded in 1990 and has served over 2.3 million guests in its storied history.

Rocky Mountaineer has earned several global plaudits this year, including being named one of the world’s most scenic journeys, most exciting train routes, as well as one of the best things to do in the world in 2026.

B.C. is well represented in CN Traveller‘s Readers’ Choice Awards in 2026.

YVR was ranked one of the best international airports in the world, and Victoria also beat exotic locales to be named the world’s best small city in the coveted awards.

Two luxurious B.C. hotels were also named among the best in Canada in the international vote, and they’re both located on Vancouver Island.
