A new train route that offers stops in both B.C. and Alberta has been named one of the most exciting in the world.
The distinction comes from Timeout, which recently put together 13 of the most exciting train routes for next year.
Timeout says that the new route that Rocky Mountaineer is rolling out next year, and that it ventures through Alberta and British Columbia. The Alberta stops are the star of the route.
According to the Rocky Mountaineer website, the B.C. and Alberta train route is called Passage to the Peaks, and hits up spots like Jasper, Banff, Lake Louise and Kamloops.
Rocky Mountaineer offers several packages with different itineraries, which include stops in Kelowna, B.C. The packages range in price from $2,834 to $6,232. The packages also include activities, hotel stays and, of course, the train journeys themselves.
Some of the packages are shorter than others. For example, you could have a one-night trip, which includes two days onboard a Rocky Mountaineer train with one hotel night. Other trips are longer, with up to nine hotel nights.
“This experience takes you exclusively through the breathtaking highlights of the Canadian Rockies and is our only route that doesn’t travel to the West Coast,” Rocky Mountaineer says.
Some of the landmarks passengers will see along the way include Mount Rundle, Rogers Pass, Shuswap Lake, Moose Lake, the Spiral Tunnels and Pyramid Falls.
“Expect jaw-dropping scenery, from glacial lakes to deep valleys, all visible from the Mountaineer’s unrivalled panoramic glass roof,” Timeout says. “You’ll want to be quick, though, as the limited edition route is only available to book for June and July.”
Some of the other exciting routes that landed on TimeOut’s list include Boston to New York, Paris to Munich, Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok, and Stirling to London.
