BC Health Officials to provide four-day update on COVID-19 cases

Health officials in British Columbia are scheduled to give a live update on COVID-19 cases in the province, as well as a detailed presentation around vaccination plans.

The announcement will include case numbers over the past four reporting periods. BC’s last update took place on December 31, 2020, during which 683 test-positive COVID-19 cases were announced, bringing the provincially recorded total to 51,983.

Additionally, there are 7,803 active COVID-19 cases and 374 individuals hospitalized with the virus, 76 of whom are in intensive care. There are also 9,364 people under active public health monitoring as a result of identified exposure to known cases.

A total of eight virus-related deaths were also announced.

During BC’s last COVID-19 update, Health Minister Adrian Dix added that “a detailed briefing presentation around vaccination plans” would be given on Monday, which he says are “evolving.”

A total of 17,510 people were vaccinated as of December 31 across all health regions, using both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccine.

Monday’s update is scheduled to begin at 3 pm and can be streamed online.
