Another restaurant in Vancouver has announced that it’s closing its doors.

At the end of September, Bao Down’s original location, located in Gastown (12 Powell Street) will be permanently shutting down.

“I had a great run with Bao Down and it was a crazy ride,” says Gregory Edwards, owner of Bao Down in a statement. “I’m ready to move onto the next chapter of my life.”

The mini chain’s Gastown location has been through a wave of events. In January of 2018, the pan-Asian eatery announced that the location was closing shop. Bao Down’s nearby Snack Bar shut down shortly after, closing its doors four months later.

Fast forward to October of 2018 and the chain’s original location reopened after a brief stint as Edwards Seafood & Spirits.

There’s been no mention of any new concepts just yet, but the restaurant says that diners will still be able to fill their bao cravings at Bao Down’s two remaining locations located on West 2nd and UBC.

Owners also say that to end off their journey, every remaining day until closing will have “killer daily drink and food specials.”

Bao Down’s original Gastown location will remain open until September 28, 2019.
