Another one bites the dust for Vancouver-based mini-chain Bao Down, this time it’s the Gastown Snack Bar.
This comes not long after they closed their OG location (12 Powell Street) in late January.
Back then Faron Bainbridge, former manager of the establishment, told Daily Hive they had merged the two restaurants’ menus and would be serving them at the vibrant Snack Bar space at 221 Carrall Street.

- A staple in Kitsilano's food scene is closing this May

Fast forward a few months later, and both Gastown spots have visibly shuttered.
A Daily Hive reader who wishes to remain anonymous snapped this photo on April 30, which is a solid signal the Snack Bar has closed permanently at this location.
The Snack Bar has been labelled “permanently closed” online, and the email is out of service as well. The last geotagged image at the location was posted on Thursday, April 26.
This brand’s two other locations: Bao Down on The Drive (1408 Commercial Drive) and Bao Down Gastropub + Raw Bar (115 W 2nd Ave, Vancouver) are still up and running as far as we know.
Daily Hive has reached out to Bao Down for comment, we’ll keep you posted as this story progresses.
