Two arrested after man stabbed in New Westminster Tuesday night

Two arrests were made in New Westminster following a stabbing on Halloween night.

Around 11:30 pm, New Westminster Police were called to the area of 8th Street and Columbia Street for a report of an assault with a weapon, believed to be a knife.

Upon their arrival, officers found one man suffering from serious injuries. He was taken to hospital and there has been no further word on his condition.

Police found two suspects not far from the scene, who were then taken into custody.

The NWPD Major Crime Unit has taken conduct of the investigation, with the assistance of the Forensic Identification Unit.

“We’re in the early stages of this investigation, but there is no reason to believe that there is any public safety concern,” said NWPD Sgt. Jeff Scott. “This appears to be a targeted event.”
