Podcast star Alex Bennett reveals best things about Vancouver and visits iconic spot

Summertime has been a booming season for celebrity sightings in Vancouver and B.C., and now we can add podcast star Alex Bennett to the list.
Bennett, co-host of the recently defunct Mean Girl podcast, shared a video on social media of her visit to Vancouver this week with her partner, Harrison Daniel Fugman, and their young child.
The Two Parents & A Podcast co-hosts were seen strolling along the seawall to Granville Island and shared some trivia they’ve learned about Canada.
Bennett and Fugman also revealed their favourite things about Vancouver on their latest podcast episode, which was released on Thursday, Aug. 14.

“I put up a question box when we were on the plane, and a lot of people were saying that they’re coming to Vancouver,” explained Bennett to Fugman. “They want to come to Vancouver. Give Vancouver recs, okay? So we’re going to do a rapid fire, okay?”
Fugman accepted Bennett’s challenge, listing off his favourite places in the first international episode of Two Parents & A Podcast. Bennett agreed with many of his selections.

Giardino Restaurant
The list of places and things to do that got a shoutout on the podcast:
- Best restaurant: Giardino Restaurant
- Best hike: Grouse Grind (“Very, very hard, very hard, very fun.”)
- Best activity: Granville Island or renting a boat
- Best hotel: Fairmont Pacific Rim (“A nice, fancy one that people love”)
- Best speakeasy: Bagheera (“One of the coolest bars or speakeasies I’ve ever been to.”)

A restaurant honourable mention was awarded to Cactus Club, though Fugman said that the lack of spicy chicken on the menu is a travesty to the restaurant.
“Hopefully, they bring it back,” he added.
Stanley Park, biking around the seawall, Whistler, and sushi also got shout-outs.
“I weirdly just don’t have a go-to sushi place, I love them all,” said Fugman. “The sushi here is just great across the board.”
Bennett and Fugman also visited Granville Island for brunch at The Dockside Restaurant inside the Granville Island Hotel.
During their walk along the seawall, she shared some facts about Canada with Fugman.

“Canada has like 41 million people and California has 40 million people,” she shared.
“Another fun fact is you guys call your Bloody Mary not even a Bloody Caesar, just Caesars.
“Did you know that Canada is the second-largest country by land mass? Did you know that Winnie the Pooh is from here? Did you know the oldest pool of water? It’s around two billion years old, and it’s in Ontario.”
Bennett also had her mind blown by the fact that Canada has its own postal code for Santa.
The Two Parents & A Podcast hosts encouraged their listeners to come to Vancouver, but to make sure they come at the right time of year.
“I would say you should definitely put this on your list of places to come,” Bennett said.
“In the right season, though,” Fugman replied.
“Yeah, in the right season, though. Do not come during the rainy season,” she added.
“Yes, summer is our prime time here,” he concurred.
