Yorkdale Mall under hold-and-secure following armed robbery

Mar 6 2020, 10:53 pm

All stores are shut at Yorkdale Shopping Centre after group of teens with guns smashed display cases during a dramatic robbery.

According to Toronto police, the mall is under a hold-and-secure while officers investigate. They say a group of four young men all wearing masks and hoodies used a weapon to break display cases and fled through the parking lot.

Initially, police tweeted that shots were fired during the Yorkdale robbery, but later said there was no evidence shots had been fired.

Officers believe the group is responsible for three separate robberies in the city’s west end Friday. All incidents involved violence and firearms.

One of the suspects has been arrested, but three are still at large.

No one is allowed into Yorkdale Shopping Centre, a high-end mall in Toronto, while police investigate.
