Vegan Jamaican patties are now available in Toronto
Toronto loves Jamaican patties, but unfortunately, the plant-based crowd is often left out of the fun.
Reason being: The patties are usually made with beef. And even if you happen across one filled with veggies, the dough is still usually made with eggs and butter.
But one Toronto-born patty lover is changing the game, and you get to be a part of the tasting experience.

Toronto-native Carolyn Simon grew up loving Jamaican patties, and later in life, she opted to transition into a plant-based diet.
According to her website, she felt frustrated about not being able to find a vegan alternative to the patties she grew up on that measured up to the flavour of her memories. So, she started to make her own.
Which is how Choose Life Foods began.

Made with organic, non-GMO and fair-trade ingredients, the patties include no trans fats, refined sugars, or artificial colours or flavours.
“We are committed to using ingredients you can pronounce. If we wouldn’t feed a particular ingredient to a child, we refuse to cook with that ingredient,” the site reads.
