Toronto bank forced to close because of a family of raccoons

Toronto seems to always have a raccoon story.

It’s part of the reason the Toronto sign is covered in images of our beloved animals. And sometimes, perhaps due to expensive rent in the city, the raccoons make homes in unexpected places… such as a bank.

An RBC bank branch on St. Clair West has informed its customers that it will be closed until the end of October because of a family of raccoons.

“As you may be aware, we had to temporarily close our store at St Clair and Oakwood due to some unexpected repairs that arose from a family of raccoons making our ceiling their new home,” wrote bank manager Stephen Clark.

The bank letter was shared by a resident in the St. Clair West Residents Group on Facebook. According to another resident, the bank had been closed for almost four weeks before the letter was sent out. It was shared on September 27.

No word on where the family is relocating to, but if anyone knows of a cozy 1-bedroom for under $2000 you should probably let them know…
