Toronto teenager arrested after carrying a semi-automatic gun downtown

Toronto police have charged a 16-year-old boy following an arrest in a firearm investigation.

According to police, the teenager was observed in the Vanualey Walk area around Dundas Street West and Denison Avenue when he was found to be in possession of a Kel Tec, Sub 2000, 9 mm semi-automatic firearm with ammunition.

Police did not release the date that the incident took place.

The boy was arrested and charged with the unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, careless use of a firearm, careless use of ammunition, and possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace.

The teenager, who can not be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, appeared in court on Monday, September 25.
