
One person is dead after being struck by a garbage truck in a downtown laneway early Tuesday morning.
According to police, emergency crews were called to the scene just before 6 am after receiving a call about a person being struck in the area of Adelaide and York streets.
Police and paramedics tried to save the person’s life but the victim succumbed to injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have not released the victim’s identity.

Following the incident, City Councilor Joe Cressey called the incident “unspeakable” and “unacceptable.”
