A man was taken to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a streetcar Sunday afternoon.

The man was using a mobility scooter to cross Queen Street West when the streetcar hit him. Const. Craig Brister with the Toronto Police Service said the man is 70 years old, and although the injuries are serious he’s expected to survive.

A section of Queen Street West was closed between Dunn Avenue and Lansdowne Avenue while police investigated. The street re-opened and streetcar service resumed just before 2 pm.
