Over the course of a week, various Toronto grocery stores and LCBO locations disclose instances of employees being diagnosed with COVID-19.

We’re consolidating this information so that, going into the weekend, you know which local spots have seen recent cases, and if there are any closures to be aware of.

These are the locations with confirmed cases of coronavirus between June 26 and July 3:

LCBO

  • There have been no reported cases of coronavirus in Toronto LCBO store employees this week.

LCBO customers are now required to wear a mask or face covering when visiting stores in regions with municipal bylaws or orders saying so, including Toronto.

As the province gradually reopens, the LCBO says it will continue to prioritize the health and well-being of its employees, and there are safety measures in place, including cleaning and sanitization, in-store promotion of physical distancing, and HR policies in support of staff.

Grocery stores

  • Metro has disclosed that a 15th employee of the grocer’s 170 The West Mall Distribution Centre has been diagnosed with COVID-19. The staff member last worked on July 4.
  • Earlier this week, Metro disclosed a new employee case of the illness at the Food Basics located at 2550 Hurontario Street in Mississauga. This individual also last worked July 4.

Prior to these new developments, Metro has disclosed cases of coronavirus at locations including Parkway Mall, West Queen West, Bloor and Spadina, College and Shaw, The Cold Chain Produce Distribution Centre, and others.

“We will always contact and follow the guidance of Public Health to ensure the safety of our teammates and customers whenever we are made aware of a confirmed case of COVID-19 in one of our food stores or distribution centres,” reads Metro’s website.

The grocer says its online tracker is continually being updated in an effort to keep the public aware of where cases have been confirmed.
