The real reason Kawhi Leonard left Toronto? His hands were cold.
He was joking of course, but the former Raptors superstar loosened up in an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Wednesday.
Kawhi was asked if there were disadvantages to having “enormous hands,” which of course are very helpful on the basketball court.
He said there was.
“Definitely,” said Leonard. “I don’t notice it until I see either my friends or someone else doing an activity and I’m like ‘I can’t do that.’ Like putting my hands in my own pockets, sometimes it’s just way too small.”
The quick-witted Kimmel responded: “Wait, is that why you left Toronto, because your hands were cold?”
Kawhi’s response?
“Man, I couldn’t find gloves to fit me.”
So there you have it, Toronto. Instead of offering him the chance to eat free at restaurants, the key to keeping Kawhi was to design big gloves and pants with giant pockets for his enormous hands.
