Beloved South China Green Tea Restaurant now open downtown

First, Green Tea Restaurant took the GTA by storm by opening their first overseas location in Markham.

And now, those flavours have finally reached the city’s downtown core.

The popular South Chinese eatery has soft-opened its doors at 261 Spadina Avenue, and you can now get your fill of delicious dishes in advance of their grand opening later this month.

Green Tea sources their meat from free range farms, and the flavours tend to lean more towards delicate and slightly sweet, rather than spicy.

One of the spot’s most popular dishes is the crispy Barbecue Chicken, presented on a hot grill at the table and served with sweet chilli sauce and spicy salt. The meat is always tender and covered with fantastically crispy paper thin skin.

Another famed plate is the traditional Dongpo Pork, that has a “melt-in-your-mouth” texture, but without the greasiness.

Made using pork belly, the dish is cooked slowly for hours with the restaurant’s secret sauce. The meat is simmered twice, then braised, sautéed, and then finally steamed.

And before you leave, make sure you taste dessert. The bread temptation is a mouthwatering combo of fluffy bread and creamy, sweet ice cream come together to create the ultimate indulgent treat.

The restaurant’s grand opening will be on March 22. And to celebrate, all those who visit the downtown location on the 22 and 23 will receive 30% off on all dishes.
