There's a natural wine pop-up shop in Toronto right now

“Sparkling, white, orange, rose or red” are only starting-point descriptions for the wines you can get your hands on in Toronto this week.

And that’s thanks to Grape Witches — made up of daughter-of-a-restauranteur Nicole Campbell and Paris Paris general manager Krysta Oben —  who run a monthly wine club and educational vino events.

The pair have taken over the space at Milk Glass on Dundas West and turned it into a temporary natural wine shop and bar.

Described on the team’s website as “confusing,” and “a buzz-word without much of a definition,” the Grape Witches are here to open curious eyes to the regions, grape names, and small producers in the world of natural wine.

“Natural wine is about going back to the land, challenging the rules and moving away from heavy-handed intervention. There has never been a more exciting time to discover wine,” the site reads, before noting that if you’re into sourdough, unpasteurized cheese, and dry-aged meat, natural wine is probably right up your alley.

From now until December 8, you can stop into 1247 Dundas Street West between noon and 10 pm to sip and shop through a variety of 30 carefully curated natural wines.

These are options you won’t find in the LCBO, and they’re available by the bottle, case, or glass — which you can enjoy while you browse the space.

“Finding the best wines in Ontario can be a challenge. It doesn’t have to be,” the pop-up’s website states. “Wild pet nat? Funky orange? Fine Champagne? Soul-moving red? Easy cheap bangers? Yeah, we got that.”

The event’s description also says that oftentimes, at the parties the Grape Witches throw, products being offered in-house will be out of stock and unavailable for attendees to enjoy at home.

In this case, however, “literally everything” is available for delivery, or pick up as early as the next day, and is being offered at wholesale prices (when buying a case).

The event is also featuring three separate education hours, focusing on $30 bangers (read: good stuff for a good price), sparkling wine, and orange wine. You can sign up to partake in those here.

Don’t miss the chance to get your hands on some of the finest — and most exclusive — vino in the city right now.

After all, it’s December, and a bottle makes for a perfect gift.
